GUNTER ANNEX, Ala. -- Integrated Maintenance Data Systems (IMDS) is the Air Force base-level maintenance management information system providing peacetime and wartime readiness and operational support to weapon systems.
IMDS has been able to seamlessly work together with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and Core Automated Maintenance System for Mobility, to migrate production maintenance records from IMDS to G081 toward the establishment of a single maintenance information system (Single MIS) across six units. This effort will establish a new maintenance data repository combining the data from IMDS, Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability Logistics Support System for Pods, and the Enhanced Maintenance Operations Center. This effort will provide the maintenance community with a single enterprise resource for maintenance data.
IMDS specifically migrated data for Acceleration Groups one and two (AG 1 & 2) containing three Mission Design Series from eight bases.
The team was able to successfully import 169,091 IMDS Job Data Documentations, 1,953 personnel records, 12,648 IMDS configuration records, 15,671 IMDS debrief records, 7,643 IMDS inspection and time change records, 13,121 IMDS utilization records, 1,829 IMDS Time Compliance Technical Orders, and 31,162 IMDS Air Force Technical Order records. Scripts automate the migration process of the data, which ensures the safety of flight for the aircraft.
The wide reach of the Single MIS team is not without challenges. They have overcome difficulties in translating the specifications of the systems to facilitate the transfer of information while experiencing major changes in workflow. The team’s transition to the Agile framework has demonstrated tremendous benefit in providing timely results to the G081 and DISA teams and by enabling needed adjustments of the efforts on-demand. As AG 1 & 2 conclude, the program is on track to be completed by December 2022.
The modifications and scripts completed thus far play a pivotal role in moving the remaining 1,144 aircraft of AG 3 & 4 toward the scheduled October 2023 completion.
