MAXWELL AFB-GUNTER ANNEX, AL -- The Business and Enterprise Systems Product Innovation (BESPIN) team is excited to share that our operational capability Data as a Service (DaaS) recently launched into production on Cloud One. DaaS was created and launched in partnership with Omni Federal.

DaaS enables capabilities by providing easy, yet secure, access to data for Air Force applications. DaaS serves as a middle layer that connects to the data source and relays that data to application teams striving to meet mission needs.

Key features of DaaS include authentication, Application Programming Interface (API) management and security controls. Providing single sign-on for users is one of the many ways app teams can utilize DaaS. The API management component not only allows app teams to request data and data sources to push data, but it presents the information in a consistent way across all platforms. DaaS has been utilized by BESPIN platforms such as Digital University and PCS Express.

BESPIN and Omni Federal’s work on DaaS will continue through BESPIN’s recently awarded SBIR Phase III IDIQ. The DaaS team will work to provide solutions for customer requirements centered around data access, analytics, and artificial intelligence capabilities.

The result will be quicker development and deployment of new capabilities for Airmen and Guardians.

Expected benefits of the SBIR Phase III IDIQ include:

● Accelerated application migration to cloud
● Improved security posture with audit trail and logging
● Eliminating duplicative efforts to access and integrate data sets
● Reduced cyber risk
● Reduced cost
● Providing economies of scale
● Reusable and repeatable open-standard based APIs

We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished so far with DaaS, but we’re looking forward to taking this capability to new heights while continuing to provide fast and secure access to data that DaaS customers expect.
