MAXWELL AFB-GUNTER ANNEX, Ala. -- The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s Business and Enterprise Systems Gunter Information Technology Asset Management (ITAM) warehouse provides inbound and outbound storage services for shipments of IT devices to and from units located on Maxwell Air Force Base - Gunter Annex, Ala.
One such unit is a branch of the Air Force Systems Network (AFSN) mission which provides modernization, analysis, design, test, implementation, installation, integration, and sustainment support for the Air Force-wide area network and Air Force Network operations.
The ITAM warehouse team directly assisted with the successful execution of a $19.9 million AFSN and Base Information Transport Infrastructure (BITI)-wired effort, as well as the $92 million Network Engineering and Integration Services Acquisitions contract, by processing, storing, inventorying, transporting, and accounting for IT equipment worth over $13 million.
This work involved verifying the serial numbers once the equipment was received and placing the pallets on shelves with forklifts. It also included transporting pallets to the AFSN offices for configuration and testing and then transporting them back to the warehouse when complete.
When this equipment was ready for shipment, the warehouse team was responsible for loading the equipment onto the trucks and handling the base-to-base transfers to six separate installations in the Defense Property Accountability System.
The support the ITAM team provided was pivotal to ensuring that Vandenberg Space Force Base, Calif., received critical infrastructure upgrades, cementing the Western Ranges launch capabilities.
