In July 2024, the Agile Services Office in the Business and Enterprise Systems (BES) Services Division successfully deployed the most up-to- date BES Atlassian Toolset (BAT) maintenance patch to their test environment in preparation for an August production release.

This patch incorporates updates to all four Atlassian components, which include Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Manager, and Bitbucket. It also includes updates to 19 of 23 plug-ins, adds seven new plug-ins, and resolves outstanding Information Assurance Vulnerability Management and Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (IAVMs/CVEs).

In addition, the upcoming production release will update all component and plug-in licensing for the next annual period of performance.

IAVM/CVE addresses technical debt for Code Security and Code Quality of the tools users are accustomed to using. They will also find new plug-ins for security with SonarQube, checklists within Jira tickets with Smart Checklist, and the new Aura Content Formatting macros that enhances the Confluence Space look and feel for a fresh User Experience.

Behind the scenes, enhanced security and engineering features have been improved upon to provide continuous access and help thwart unwanted access to the BAT.

The BAT currently provides over 5,000 licenses for the use of Jira, an Agile development support tool, the Confluence documentation and collaboration tool, Jira Service Management as the project ticketing agent; and the Bitbucket source code repository.

These components and associated plug-ins support 69 BES internal Capability Development Teams (CDTs) and 28 external CDTs.
