WRIGHT-PATTERSON AFB, Ohio -- The Business and Enterprise Systems Directorate’s Keystone Decision Support System (KDSS) is a financial data warehouse, decision support, and budgeting tool that is used by the U.S. Armed Forces, to include the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) and Air Force Sustainment Center to help manage the Air Force Working Capital Fund. The Air Force Working Capital Fund (AFWCF) contributes to Air Force readiness through the depots’ skills to sustain the Air Force’s organically maintained weapon systems and logistically managing the critical assets within the supply chain.
On Nov. 7, 2024, the KDSS Program Management Office (PMO) brought in the Financial Management Office (FMO), the sustainment contractor team, and user representatives from AFMC/Financial Management (FM) and SAF/FM for an all-day face-to-face training.
Training was accomplished during the meeting through interaction among training participants.
Often it was users learning from other users, contractors learning how the community utilized their capabilities, and the PMO and FMP learning the user priorities and the contractors’ challenges.
While the initial reason for the meeting was for training, the outcome brought many more benefits.
The PMO and System Integrator documented 25 high level actionable items. Those items are expected to lead to a long list of improvements and efficiencies. Additionally, the PMO is looking to create a user supported wiki page to post questions, tips, tricks, definitions and home-grown processes.
Strong informal communications at this level serves to build and strengthen resiliency within our user community. The PMO is scheduling quarterly summits to focus on specific business mission capabilities.
