On Jan. 15, 2025, the Business and Enterprise Systems Program Executive Officer, Alvin Burse provided an update on the BES Directorate during the annual State of BES Luncheon hosted by the Montgomery Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association Chapter at the Wynlakes Golf and Country Club in Montgomery, Ala.

The presentation focused on BES’s ongoing modernization efforts and its commitment to delivering innovative solutions to the Department of the Air Force.

The address emphasized the success of critical systems such as the Defense Enterprise Accounting and Management System (DEAMS), which is enhancing financial management processes, and the Department of Air Force Bot (DAFBOT), an advanced tool that boosts automation and decision-making.

BES has made significant strides in adopting Agile execution, enabling teams to respond quickly to evolving mission needs. A key focus has been expanding DevSecOps capabilities to develop secure, scalable, and efficient systems. Despite these advancements, Burse acknowledged several challenges, including maintaining funding sustainability, enhancing cybersecurity measures, and aligning governance processes to meet mission objectives.

Addressing these obstacles is critical to ensuring BES remains at the forefront of technological innovation. Looking to the future, Burse outlined BES’s priorities: refining internal processes and fostering collaboration with industry partners. By strengthening these areas, BES aims to drive mission success while continuing to innovate and adapt to the Air Force’s needs. This year's State of BES highlighted BES’s commitment to a stronger, more efficient operational environment.
