The safety and security of our installations depend on the constant readiness of Air Force Security Forces. Modernizing data collection processes ensures they are always prepared to: “Be Lethal!”

On Feb. 24, 2025, the Automated Readiness Information System (ARIS) released the Security Forces Range Module. The previous system for managing firing range data within Security Forces was in dire need of modernization, relying on inefficient usage of SharePoint lists. Now, Combat Arms Flights across the Air Force can collect real-time data on firing ranges in one centralized location.

In the realm of firing ranges and training facilities, safety is paramount. The meticulous attention to detail required for every bullet fired can create administrative chores for Combat Arms Personnel, potentially overshadowing the more critical tasks at hand such as defending Air and Space Force installations and aircraft.

By providing a modern, centralized tool to record key information such as lifetime rounds, rounds since last backstop replacement, or inspection and renovation dates, the range module allows the Air Force Security Forces Center to look across all their ranges and make data-driven decisions regarding funding and readiness, while reducing man hours needed to keep range data up to date.

“The range module is another huge success for the ARIS team and is the third customer-requested module that we have been able to deploy for this system since making it to the cloud

last year,” said Civil Engineering Enterprise IT Materiel Leader, Lt. Col. Brian Mahar. “We are excited to continue to work with our customer to rapidly deploy modern IT solutions that help to boost our Airmen’s effectiveness. I am once again in awe of the ingenuity and dedication of my team!”

ARIS supports base level and higher Headquarters Civil Engineering (CE) functions in day-to-day operations to prepare for deployment and maintain a high rate of Unit Type Code readiness.

ARIS is a management tool for advocating and reporting resources supporting CE, Security Forces and Services for Active Air Force, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserve during peace and wartimes. ARIS functions as an interoperable, user-friendly system providing information that expedites effective readiness response and reporting during normal and contingency operations. ARIS provides resource tacking and critical decision-making in the management of readiness and is a critical component of Air Force readiness.
