MAXWELL AFB-GUNTER ANNEX, Ala. -- After 28 years serving in the United States Air Force, Col. Heath Frye is now turning the page to begin an exciting new chapter: retirement. His retirement ceremony was held on June 30, 2025, at Maxwell AFB-Gunter Annex in Montgomery, Alabama — a date that holds deep personal significance, as it would have been his father’s 82nd birthday.
The presiding official of the ceremony was retired Col. Alan Hunt, Jr., who provided a brief overview of Frye’s Air Force journey, highlighting achievements from Hickam Air Force Base to Afghanistan, including being recognized as the top of seven squadron commanders at the 22nd Mission Support Group and his work on the Joint Staff at the Pentagon.
For the last two years of his career, Frye served as the Division Chief of the Operations Division for the Business and Enterprise Systems (BES) Directorate, located at Maxwell AFB-Gunter Annex. He led a service domain composed of six service areas and 35 services, supporting the acquisition development and operations for 400 enterprise applications that deliver maintenance, supply, financial, human resources, and mission support capabilities for global Department of the Air Force operations, while also overseeing software development and Robotic Process Automation as enterprise-level services.
Frye thanked his family, friends, colleagues, and leadership for attending the ceremony. He reflected on the ever-changing landscape of technology and stated that he wished he were 28 years younger and just joining the Air Force.
“We are at a tipping point right now, it is a dangerous time, it is a scary time, but it is also a marvelous and wondrous time,” Frye said. “It’s a time for an incredible opportunity.”
He expressed his excitement for the future and wished the BESt for the Air Force family.
